Karen moved to Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, in January 2020, where she started spending much of her free time walking along the nearby Netley shoreline.
Karen soon noticed the abundance of sea glass and began collecting it.

Over the past five years, Karen has taught herself jewellery making, the art of drilling sea foam pieces and using wire wrapping techniques to create unique pieces of jewellery. Karen shares these skills in classes and courses and helps guide, motivate and encourage with a great deal of enthusiasm for her subject and those who attend.

Karen says "her interest in gathering sea glass and natural materials has also rekindled her passion for textiles, which began in her teens when she made her own clothes."
Karen's current textile projects are inspired by the ocean's colours and textures, using recycled fabrics like denim and lace to craft simple seascapes.

Karen has developed a variety of classes, courses and groups that are all extremely popular.
Sea glass jewellery, coaster and art classes sit comfortably alongside her slow stitch, free motion embroidery and textile classes.

Karen has been at Paul Dumper Creations from the very start and continues to be a key member of the growing community.

You will find a choice of Karen's creations at the studio and at many local markets and craft based events.
